"SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS!"
My closest friends and relatives know that I absolutely love cartoons. Even as an adult, I always check what is on Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon before I begin channel surfing. As I have grown older, my cartoon choices have diversified - I religiously watch Family Guy, I binge F is for Family and Big Mouth when new seasons come out on Netflix, and I will never turn down watching reruns of The Simpsons. However, none of these compare to the one show that helped develop my passion for cartoons.

I have absolutely zero shame in admitting my love for this show. Each character in the show is downright hilarious. Whether this is Squidward complaining about literally everything or Plankton failing (yet again) to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula, each character has a set agenda to push. Mrs. Puff wants to pass SpongeBob in regards to his driving test to get him out of her boating school. Patrick wants to chill under a rock all day. And Mr. Krab's sole purpose is to scam every aquatic character in Bikini Bottom.
For the people that are still reading this article who were also SpongeBob fans, remember this episode? You should, because it is the all-time best SpongeBob SquarePants episode ever made.

"What are they selling?" 'THEY'RE SELLING CHOCOLATE!" As SpongeBob and Patrick set out to take a stab at being "entrepreneurs", they begin by knocking door-to-door on houses in Bikini Bottom selling chocolate. After no initial success, they finally come upon a daughter and mother (pictured above) who decide to buy some chocolate because "you rub in on your skin, and it makes you live forever" (according to Patrick). Needless to say, the mother buys some chocolate even as the daughter objects.
If you care to take a trip down memory lane, here is the episode summarized in a 5-minute video.
Unfortunately, the creator of SpongeBob is no longer with us.
Rest in peace Stephen Hillenburg (1961 - 2018).
Thank you for making my childhood.
This was super insightful and brought back a lot of great memories of the my childhood. I still scream "WAHHT ARE THEY SELLING" "CHOOOOCKLATEEE!" at least 4 times a month. Also I was a bit confused when you said he is longer with us, until I realized you meant to say "no" longer with us, which was a quick turn of events and made me quite sad :/ Regardless, great show and great humor.
ReplyDeleteHaha this was great, I remember watching spongebob all the time as a kid. I don't specifically search for spongebob on the TV anymore but I definitely won't skip over it if its playing.
ReplyDeleteI used to watch SpongeBob in Italy as well when I was a kid! And I perfectly remember this episode, though it was at least 10 years ago I guess. Thank you for having made me feel already old! Hahaha
ReplyDeleteI ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SHOW!!!! I watched only Spongebob from like age 6 until I graduated high school! I even still like to watch it with my little brother. This has a special place in my heart always! Also, "WEENIE HOT JUNIORS!!"

ReplyDeleteAnyone who claims that don't like Spongebob has to be lying. An all time show that anyone of any age was able to like. RIP Stephen Hillenburg...

I particularly loved this blog post because it effectively brought me down memory lane and I couldn't stop smiling! I remember being able to watch hours of Spongebob and never getting bored, even if I had already seen the episode before. Personally, my favorite character is Patrick!
